Q: I have a black tourmaline stone. My question is do I need to program the stone? Do all stones or crystals need to be programed? Where can I find that type of information?

Dear L,
I must share the standard disclaimer that I am not a doctor and cannot give out medical advice. Crystals for healing should be used as a compliment to other therapies and not as a replacement for regular medical care. With that said, for your condition, I would like to start by suggesting some crystals that can help to ease pain, uplift the spirit, and remove/release anger and fear.
Yes if you are going to use the crystal for a specific purpose it should be programed. Here is an article that gives a good description of programing. Many of my crystal are not programed, they are general healers or energy sources. I have some that I pre-program for specific things and some I do not program until just before use. It all depends on the person using them.. Using a crystal without programing is like giving a person and job and not giving him instruction on how to do the job. Crystals need instruction to do the job you really want done or they will do what they naturally do in a general sort of way. With out programing and focus you may get unexpected results.
