Greetings! Thank you for visiting our website and sending in your question. Before I go into your particular question, I have to mention here that I am not a doctor or a psychoanalyst, and therefore I cannot give out medical advice. However, I am an energy healer, tarot reader, and ordained minister, and so I frequently find myself counseling others based on intuitive information gleaned during energy work or tarot readings, and sometimes I draw on past successful resolutions of my own issues. Thus, while I am intuitively qualified to counsel others to a degree, I must always stress the importance of seeing a professional for certain issues. Working with the energetic qualities of crystals should be seen as complementary care for any issue or ailment. Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, we can get down to business!
I am noticing that more and more people I know are having difficulties with their children, and one of the most common of these is a problem in communication. Being a mom of a 3 year old myself, I can easily see how a lack of communication can lead to a problem with anger. Generally, in our society, the newborn child is shown that he is a weak member of the family. This cannot be helped because as a baby, everything must be done for the child, and as the child grows, discipline inevitably plays a part in childrearing. Also, the child may witness roles being played within in the family (perhaps between siblings or parents), which show a type of hierarchy in place. This create a sense of powerlessness in the child as he gets older, while still unable to use reason. I feel that this sense of powerlessness will sometimes manifest as "miss-behaving", and can often turn into a behavior issue if not dealt with. Possible ways of helping this issue would include trying to encourage a child to feel more comfortable with his or her role in the family by offering more choices to him/her on a regular basis, and maybe trying to spend more time with the child to make him/her feel a sense of importance in the family unit. Of course, these are just suggestions that I feel lend themselves to crystal work, along with counseling. I don't know the family dynamics, so they must judge what the best course of action is.
In thinking about stones for this issue, it occurs to me that a combination of certain crystals would probably have the most beneficial effect with this child. Perhaps one or two clusters, strategically placed in the home, along with one or two tumbled stones for him to carry around, might be the best support for this boy, while any other work is being done. The chakras most likely involved with an emotional/behavioral problem such as this would be the Root, Sacral, Solar-Plexus, and Throat. I chose the minerals based on the chakras that are involved with this type of energy disturbance/blockage.
For the Root Chakra, I feel that Smokey Quartz would be the most appropriate in this circumstance. Smokey Quartz is a superb grounding crystal, that could help to draw out and transmute negative energies the child is experiencing. Smokey Quartz is also known to be helpful in group situations, by sending out energies that are conducive to cooperation. A great stone for the Sacral Chakra, and also for ameliorating anger, is Carnelian. Carnelian would be a great stone for the child to carry in his pocket, or even in a special little pouch, to make it feel special to him. A useful stone for all types of mental processes, Carnelian is especially helpful with negative emotions, including anger, rage, jealousy, and resentment, among others. A crystal that supports a properly functioning Solar-Plexus Chakra is Citrine. Citrine can help balance emotions and reasoning, and might be a great crystal to keep as a cluster somewhere in the home. Although a tumbled stone would work well in his little pouch as well. Citrine's sunny vibration encourages a sense enthusiasm and generosity. Citrine is one of the few crystals that never needs cleansing, making it a great crystal to keep with you on a regular basis. Citrine cleanses the chakras and aligns the subtle bodies. Emotionally, Citrine has a happy vibe that is conducive to developing a positive attitude and a healthy self-esteem. Finally, we come to the Throat Chakra. The best stone in my opinion to help the function of this chakra is Lapis Lazuli. I prefer this stone due to its uniquely powerful ability to pull intuitive info from the Third-Eye into the Throat Chakra, so that it can not only be understood better, but also more accurately expressed. This stone can help to resolve problems of communication. Lapis Lazuli balances the Throat Chakra, enabling one to master the art of discretion in speaking.
