Bloodstone, also known as Heliotrope, is composed of deep green Chalcedony (or Jasper) and small dots of Red Jasper (Red Jasper is red due to hematite/iron oxide inclusions). The number of red dots in bloodstone varies depending on the concentration of red minerals in the stone. It is an opaque stone with a shiny, glassy luster.

 @Moonchild Hematite is a metallic grey color. The red in bloodstone is definitely jasper. In fact, the green is jasper too, aka chalcedony. Perhaps you’re thinking of tiger iron, which has all three? (Submitted by: Anomelie on February 02, 2020) |
