Here is a Question from One of Our Customers:

I need to know whether combining semi-precious gemstone beads with silver plated metal spacer beads affects their metaphysical and healing properties.

Is it appropriate to use glass, copper, metal, leather, wooden or Swarovski crystal beads with the gemstones? I see it done a lot and have always wondered about any potential interference with the healing energy flow of true crystals that may result.

Is there a specific metal that complements the metaphysical and healing properties of genuine semi-precious gemstones? Does it matter in any way if the jewelry is made with silver-plated or other, less expensive metals?

Answer:

Dear V,
I must share the standard disclaimer that I am not a doctor and cannot give out medical advice. Crystals for healing should be used as a compliment to other therapies and not as a replacement for regular medical care.

Lets look at the materials you ask about. Metals, each metal has its own metaphysical properties and those should be taken into account when creating a piece of jewelry.

Different woods have properties:http://www.bardwood.com/woods.htm

Glass beads have no property in itself but colored beads have the property of that color.

Shells, coral and any material taken for marine life do have some properties.
