What you're describing is not unusual. Some people don't feel anything when they handle crystals, but others are quite sensitive to the energy the crystals emit and that can have effects like what you've mentioned. I myself find that if I wear hematite for too long, my arm starts to tingle and hurt. The first time I ever held Kunzite, my whole hand lost feeling. This sensation should go away within a few minutes of letting go of the crystal and isn't dangerous.
If it persists, I definitely recommend seeking medical attention because it may be something unrelated to the crystals. I would suggest working with them for a few minutes at a time and building up a tolerance, so to speak, and then you shouldn't experience such a profound effect from them.
