"I have been trying to find someone who could help me with an issue for over a year and came across your site, I hope you can help? I bought a obsidian pendalum over a year ago and I tried to use it more then 10 times, each time I held the pendulum in my hand it gave me a headache. I have another now that is just plain metal that does not do that, but I was wondering what does that mean when a obsidian pendalum gives you a headache or some sort of side affect?"
Thanks for reaching out to Healing Crystals!
What you're describing is not unheard of. Everyone I know who works with crystals has 1 or 2 that they have a strange reaction to. For example, black tourmaline gives my husband chest pain. Many people believe that having an adverse reaction to a crystal means that you need it all the more. Your energetic body may be resisting the healing that the crystal is trying to offer. If this is the case, most people try to work up a tolerance to the crystal in order to benefit from it's properties by holding the crystal in their hands for 5-15 minute intervals each day despite the reaction and over time, almost all people say that the strange pains or funny feelings went away over time.
It is also possible that your obsidian pendulum needs a good deep cleanse. Obsidian is a strong absorber especially of unwanted emotions. Many people describe obsidian as feeling "heavy" when it needs to be cleansed. I like to bury my obsidian in a bowl of salt for 1-2 days to achieve this but you could also try sage or incense smoke or moonlight depending on what you prefer. You should notice that your obsidian feels much lighter when it has been adequately cleansed.
I hope this helps and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!
