Which provides more energy - a bar? Cluster? Another shape? I'm looking for something Amethyst. Does it matter or just personal preference? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for your question. Different shapes do have different energies that work with the crystal but a tumbled Amethyst or Amethyst bar or Amethyst Tower will all have similar Amethyst energy. It is important to go with what you are drawn to your personal preference.
A bar or square is more grounding.
A pyramid or tower shape is helpful if you are looking to connect to higher energies.
A sphere or circular shape will be comforting.
Heart Shapes are for the energy of love and star and Merkaba shapes build an energy shield.
