Tumbled Stones

I have a question about storing my stones what is the best way to do this? I have too many now to just place them in a little bag and I have fragile stones, such as selenite and kyanite, that I don't want to see damaged.  I was told that placing them in sand and covering them was appropriate, but I can only see storing my tumbled stones that way as the sand could damage or "stick" to the more porous and rough stones.  What do you recommend?

Thank you kindly,
Sonya

Sonya,

Thanks for your email.  Your question is a good one.  Minerals all have a different "Hardness" and because some natural minerals can be quite sharp, it is wise to store some separately.  Most of the tumbled stones can be stored together in a bag, but if they bang together to hard, they can easily break.

I suggest that you purchase a plastic container with multiple compartments.  We find them at our local Hardware store and also at our local Craft stores.  Also, we like to display our crystals by purchasing small shelves that we find at Target and Walmart and laying the stones out for both display and for storage.  As your crystal collection grows, it is helpful to find a storage system that works for you.   Look around at some of those options and choose the one that Feels best to you.  I hope that my reply is helpful.

Thanks again for your question and for visiting our website.  Have a wonderful day!

Love and Harmony,

Shawn Adler
