Can you cleanse calcite stones in salt water, or are they too soft? Thanks!

Hi M:

Thanks for your question about the best method for cleansing and charging Green Calcite.  One of my personal favorites!

You do not want to use salt to cleanse Calcite since it is a softer crystal and the salt will eventually wear it away.  Plain water - especially running - is perfect though for Green Calcite.  Some believe that you should avoid using tap water since there may be chemicals, etc. but I can tell you from personal experience that tap water has never damaged my Green Calcite.  I actually keep one of mine in my shower so that I constantly cleanse and charge the crystal and give myself a little energy every time I take a shower.  You can also use candles (place the crystal by it), smudging or ringing a bell to charge the crystal.  Moonlight is always wonderful - especially for charging the crystal with specific intentions.  Here is a link to more information that we have on our website about cleansing and charging crystals: Clearing Crystals / Cleaning Crystals - Summary Page - Crystal Healing Articles - Information About Crystals As A Healing Tool

Thank you again for your question.  I wish you lots of love and light and joy with your crystals.

Crystal Blessings!
