Good Morning. I was searching the internet for Indigo Kyanite, but I can't seem to find that stone. Every time I see people mention it and show a picture it looks the same as the blue one. I was wondering, is Indigo Kyanite more rare than the other Kyanite crystals? Also, are the Blue and Black Kyanite good for dreaming? Thanks for your time.

Hi A:

Kyanite does come in Blue, Black & Green and even Orange colors.  The Indigo Kyanite crystal is a more of a cross between the Blue and Black...and I had a difficult time finding any on the internet also so I don't believe that the term is very commonly used.

All of the Kyanite crystals are wonderful for dreaming.  The Indigo was described as being better for lucid dreaming and astral travel probably because it has a more protective energy than the Blue KyaniteBlack Kyaniteis highly protective though (I keep one in my bedroom to chase away any bad dreams) so if you are working on astral travel then I would use the Blue and Black together to open your mind and have the amplified protection.  I like Green Kyanitewhen I want to communicate with others through dreams.

Thank you for reaching out to us and for your support of Healing I would love to hear back if you try using the various Kyanite crystals and how you enjoyed their different energies. I will look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Wishing you lots of Love and Light!

Crystal Blessings!

"Indigo" kyanite is a trade name for a dark blue kyanite from Russia. I believe it was mined in the same area as the Russian phenacite, so it developed a strong reputation for use in dreaming and shamanic work. There is very little of this material available now - I may have a piece left in my store but I can't find it now so no picture. For a while you could find a variety of Indian kyanite sold as "indigo", but I have not seen that marketing tactic used in a while. If you can get some of the Russian kyanite, go for it. You could also try combining deep blue kyanite with phenacite for a similar effect.  (Submitted by: Sharron on March 26, 2014)
