Question: What crystals can help with sensory overload due to autism?

Answer:

Hello,

Thank you so much for contacting us for these questions! I have a few recommendations for you.

For focus and clarity of mind I recommend Hematite and Smokey Quartz. These two crystals are incredibly grounding and help us maintain concentration and ditch excess thoughts, negative energy and negative thinking. These crystals are deeply associated with the root chakra; in my research, root chakra crystals are known to help people with autism as well. Additionally, rainbow fluorite and tigers eye are great for focus too.

For the execution dysfunction, I recommend crystals that can help motivate you on a daily basis and focus deeply on your tasks. The 4 stones I mentioned above can also be used for execution dysfunction. Carnelian is great for motivation, as well as procrastination. Bloodstone is good for an energy boost to help us get through our tasks.

Also, sugilite is one of the most common crystals recommended for people with autism. Sugilite helps a person focus on themselves by removing unwanted energies and thought patterns; ultimately, this crystal aids in focusing on yourself and your tasks. The Healing Crystals store is out of stock of sugilite, but at least you know about this one if you see it in person!

When working with any crystal, it's important to set a clear healing intention so you can program the crystal and direct the energy. You could also use an affirmation to aid in this. For example, "I am highly motivated and complete all my daily tasks with clarity and determination." As well, keep in mind that crystals choose you! You may not want to use all of the crystals I've mentioned, but with a strong intention any crystal can work from you. You can absolutely use more than 1 crystal together. If you do, a fun experiment is to use 1 at a time first; journaling about how each crystal makes you feel. Then add another crystal and journal about that as well. This exercise is a good way to find out which crystals will work best for you personally.

When you decide on your crystals, I recommend wearing them or carrying them with you. For example, wear as jewelry or keep in your pockets. At night you could sleep with them near your bed or pillow. If you use your crystals this frequently, I suggest cleansing them regularly using the smoke from dried herbs or another preferred method (see this article for cleansing).
