Thanks for reaching out to Healing Crystals. In answer to your question, you don't have to use sage specifically to clear a house, though it is the most commonly used method. Other methods are crystals, as you have mentioned, with Smoky Quartz or Selenite being two effective crystals for this purpose. You can also cleanse a house by visualizing white light clearing all the corners of the home. You can use incense or you can also make an essential oil/water spray if you'd prefer not to use smoke in the house.
