Tumbled Larimar from the Dominican Republic
We are excited to be able to offer good quality Larimar Tumbled "rubbing" stones from the Dominican Republic. This Tumbled Larimar is a nice mix of pale blue and white, and it has been hand-polished.
Larimar is a rare blue variety of Pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, which is located in the Caribbean. Only one location exists for this rare blue gemstone, and that is in the southwest corner of the country in the mountains of Baharona. In general, Larimar's color varies from white, light blue, green-blue to deep blue, and occasionally Hematite Dendrites, Calcite and Natrolite inclusions occur. While Pectolite in general is not a rare occurrence, none have the unique blue coloration of Larimar, which is the result of Cobalt substituting for Calcium.
