"Could you tell me how to handle / care for Pyrite properly (dos and don'ts)? It seems that it is more delicate than other rocks. Do I need tools / chemical solutions to clean?"
Thank you for your crystal inquiry.
The care and handling of Pyrite is fairly easy. You should avoid water, moisture and extended periods of sunlight. It can be cleansed in a dish of cleansed and charged Clear Quartz points/chips or Selenite. I like to place crystals around a Selenite stick to keep them cleansed. If you are using it frequently about once a month should do nicely. Physical cleaning can be done with a dry toothbrush.
Pyrite may contain intermixed Marcasite. The Marcasite with time and exposure to oxygen, may form a white powdery substance/residue which is poisonous/toxic Sulfuric Acid. If this occurs you should not wear next to the skin or touch. It is not recommended for elixirs unless made by the indirect method only.
I hope you find this helpful!
