Question:

"I want advice from a crystal healing expert, please. First, if you had to pick just one crystal for self-love and just one crystal for protection, what would those two be? And second, would they work (a) if worn at the same time and (b) for a non-pagan? Thank you!"

Answer:

Hi, E.

When choosing crystals to work with, it's important to use your own intuition to find what suits your energy. Using myself as an example, I find Quartz crystals to be overwhelming, too stimulating, but I love Jaspers and Agates that have mellow, gradually building energies (which some people might feel are too slow for them). I know you've asked for just one and people often ask for "the best" crystal. There isn't a best for any purpose and it's hard to pick just one, especially for someone other than oneself. So, I am going to present you with my top picks, most of which are popular choices by others.

For self-love:

For protection:

Rhodonite has properties for both purposes.

There are no inherently wrong/right or good/bad combinations of crystals. What people may experience with two crystals that have different energies is a cancelling out of their sets of properties. Think of it like day and night. Say you have a stimulating crystal for physical energy, mental sharpness, productivity, stamina for your daytime needs and a gentle crystal for calmness, relaxation, sleep for your nighttime needs. It would probably be best to wear or carry them separately, when their properties are needed, instead of keeping them together 24/7.

Crystals can work for anyone of any or no spiritual or religious persuasion. They do tend to work better if you truly believe in their powers; Doubt and disbelief creates blocks, not of the crystal's powers, but within oneself.

Best Wishes and much love,
