Hi, I had an Ametrine 6-sided crystal pendant about 2 inches long that I wore everyday for about 6 months. I loved it. One day it was just gone from the pendant setting and a friend told me that they can shrink. Is this true? She also said that the crystals can fall out of fittings when the wearer no longer needs them. I have mixed feelings about that statement as I can't imagine that I didn't need it anymore. Thanks for your time! Great Site!

Dear M,

Thank you for your inquiry. There are many ideas and theories as to why crystals get lost. One theory is that the crystals go to another dimension and then reappear when they have had time to recuperate. Another one is that they leave when they have already accomplished what they had to with one particular owner or place. Others feel that fairies and other beings may move them. One thing to remember about crystals is that they absorb energy just as much as they put out. They are like sponges and there comes a point when they can't absorb any more. I believe it is at that point that they "drop out" of our lives. They reach the limits of their ability and need time to recover before continuing. Where they go is up to debate, but like many of us, when they reach their energetic limits they need to stop doing what they are doing or they break.

I hope that these recommendations can be of assistance and that crystals grace your journey with love and light.

Crystal Blessings!
