Question: I really don't know anything about crystals. My daughter has gotten involved and has purchased a bright crystal through Amazon. This crystal emits a light. She has since purchased the same crystal for friend but none of them emit this light. I was wondering why, 1 - hers emits the light, 2 - None of the others do? Hers is so bright that she has been accused of having a hidden battery.

Answer: Hello there,

Thank you so much for your patience and for contacting us for this unique inquiry! This question is very interesting. It's possible that the way the crystal has been cut or formed, reflects light in a way that it appears as though it is emitting it. No crystal is the same, so we cannot expect each one to have the same physical appearances. It's most likely the crystal itself reflecting light: this can appear is bright white light, rainbow light or a similar effect to a mirror reflecting the sun. However, crystals are so beautifully mysterious and magical that you may simply have a special crystal that is unique and you are a witness to its power.

I found an interesting article on BBC that explains some magical physical traits of crystals, such as the way they work with light. Click here for that!
