Tumbled Ruby

Question:

"What is the difference in QUALITY or any MEANING between the Ruby Polished Forms and the tumbled Ruby Stone?

Ruby Stone is *9 Hardness. Is it the HIGHEST Hardness number? So, I can WASH it in ANY water? Is the LOWEST Hardness number 2, meaning soft and easy dissolving in water?

What is the BEST use for the Ruby Stone, hold it in one hand, put it in pocket, or place it in front of sight?"

Answer:

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

The Ruby Free-Forms have their own free-form shape so they're not the typical completely round and smooth shape that you'd find in a polished piece.
The Free-Form pieces have got "facets" or sides to them which the tumbled ruby stone doesn't have.
A tumbled stone is smooth but the Free-Forms have been polished smooth so they have that extra shine which a tumbled stone won't have.
For the tumbled stones, you'll also notice that our Ruby is hand-polished which means it is a little more chunkier and not as 100% smooth as the Free-forms will be.

When it comes to hardness that means how fragile the stone is (read more here).
If a stone, like Selenite is on the lower end of the spectrum with a hardness of 2, it can easily be scratched, BUT if a stone has a lower hardness rate, it doesn't mean that it can easily degrade in water. For instance, Calcite has a hardness of 3 which makes it easily scratched but it doesn't easily degrade in water, whereas Selenite can degrade in water over a long period of time. It actually can take well to water but over time if the piece is more fragile, it may degrade so rather safe than sorry.

Ruby, being a 9, one of the hardest can only be scratched by a diamond but it can scratch any other mineral below it. It is one that you can use to clean or energetically cleanse in water but don't drink the water that Ruby has been lying in because it contains aluminum and it's considered a toxic stone (read more here).

The best way to use Ruby is to figure out the best way for YOU.
Crystals can be worn, carried with you in an intention/mojo/medicine bag, used in a crystal grid, meditated with by holding it or laying it on certain parts of the body you're intuitively drawn to, sleeping with it. There is no right, wrong or more better way depending on the crystal. It's all about what works for you. Crystals love working with us and they love it when we work with them mindfully and intentionally, so pick a way that feels RIGHT to YOU and then see what the crystal shares with you. If you try one method and it doesn't feel all that great, experiment and try another method. Some crystals love being meditated with, some like being with you all the time, some prefer sleeping with you. It's totally up to you.

I hope this helps :)
