"Hi-is there a specific wire (copper, sterling etc) that is more "protective" when using a protection stone pendant for an empath? I want to get something with black tourmaline but need advice. Can you advise re: any other stones, wire, metal, etc ?? thanks in advance."

When it comes to wire, I'd go with copper if you were looking for protection. I know copper of being protective as well as amplifying so if you're intention for the pendant was protection, copper can help also amplify that.

When it comes to crystals, the top crystals I would recommend are:
Black Tourmaline - it is known as one of the top protectors and many people turn to it for that. You're right on the money with that if you are very drawn to this crystal for protection
Selenite - I like to recommend Selenite with Black Tourmaline (or any other protecting crystal) to help clear the energy that may be sticking to you after a day of wearing your protection crystal. Selenite clears but also keeps the vibes high. Often we do a lot for protection but we don't do a lot for clearing ourselves.
Smokey Quartz - this is another really good protector in my opinion.
Labradorite - not one that is recommended enough but my personal favourite because it works more like a shield and before leaving, I always picture myself within a Labradorite shield.
