Question:

"Okay, so I used my pendulum today and I asked if I was talking to some good spirits. But I don’t really know if I am, can the bad sprit lie and say that you are? And do you need Amethyst to protect you from bad spirits as you are doing it? Do you need a board to use the pendulum or does the palm work better?"

Answer:

Hi Abigail,

Thanks for reaching out to Healing Crystals!

Can bad spirits lie and say they're good spirits? Sure. It's always recommended that every single time you do a divination, you call in some good protectors. You can call in your spirit guides. Some people call in Archangel Michael. I myself like to roll with Horus and Anubis. Any deity or angel known for being a protector can be asked to keep you safe from the baddies while you're doing spirit work. It's also helpful to put up a barrier. Some people go all out and pour out a salt circle and light candles and incense. You can totally do that, but it's also just as effective to visualize yourself being surrounding in a protective bubble or white light. The important thing is to speak out loud what your intentions are. For example, "I call in the protection of my guides, my ancestors, and the warrior Sekhmet to guard the barrier and protect me from negative spirits. None but good spirits may speak to me during this time...." or something to that effect. You have to set the rules and you have to speak them out loud.

If you want to use Amethyst while you're doing this, you can. I prefer stones such as Black Tourmaline or Jet, myself.

And as for your last question, you don't need a spirit board. You could always make one yourself by drawing it on paper. If you're going to just ask yes or no questions, then you really don't need anything other than the pendulum.

I hope this answers all your questions, and please feel free to reach out if we can be of further assistance!
