Question:
"I accidentally washed Lepidolite in the washer. My daughter uses it to place it under her pillow, inside the pillowcase. Is it still safe for her to use? Or has it become toxic?"
Answer:
Hello, T
Lepidolite can be toxic (it contains aluminum), when consumed; For example, if someone were to infuse drinking water with it. Also, keep in mind, it contains lithium, a naturally occurring mineral in our bodies and there is the potential for building up too much of any mineral we get from any source (food, supplements, etc). Although, I wouldn't worry about mineral build up from the stone, as long as hands are washed after handling it.
If the piece of Lepidolite is tumbled, it's probably safer than a rough piece, however I can't guarantee either type of stone would be more or less safe than the other.
Honestly, I am not sure if the piece of Lepidolite would be a safety risk, after having gone through a laundry cycle. My concern would have been about the load of laundry and the water it was soaked in. However, if you were going to see any effects from that, you likely would have already noticed. If you feel like being extra careful, maybe rewash any items that were in that load of laundry.
Use your intuition alongside any facts you have when deciding if you still want to use that particular stone.
