Hi. I have a couple of questions:

(1). is it OK to soak Black Obsidian stones in water and sea salt to clear them? Can they be soaked together or should they each be soaked separately? If you do not recommend soaking them, how about covering them overnight in just plain sea salt?

(2). I have some Blue and Green Aventurine. Is it OK to combine these stones with the Black Obsidian when carrying them (same pocket/pouch) or should they be separated?

Thanks very much.

Hi C,

Thank you for your inquiry.  It is fine to soak your crystals together in water with salt.  If I am using salt water to clear a crystal, I like to use Pink Himalayan Salt.  You could also use a gentle castile soap and/or running water.  Additional methods to cleanse your crystals can be found here:

Where you place or where them is entirely up to you.  You can combine them all in one pocket if that feels best, though sometimes I like to have one or two one each side for balance.  Black Obsidian is volcanic glass, and can break more easily than other crystals particularly if you have a thinner piece.  If this is the case you may want to keep it wrapped up separate from your other ones.

Crystal Blessings~

Just be careful with water cleansing, not all crystals can be put in water, like selenite, which can dissolve in water. That being said, i love using water and pink Himalayan salt whenever possible, combined with reiki, then a long rest on selenite, which will also cleanse other crystals, and a final sage smudge. I like to pamper and play with my crystals though, so some might say i am overzealous. :-)  (Submitted by: Erica on August 31, 2013)
