Question: How often should I cleanse my crsytals?

There are many, many ways to cleanse crystals.
Selenite is one way. You can also leave them out in moonlight, smudge them with sage smoke, or tune them with music. Everyone has their preferred method, and it's really up to you. Some people cleanse them every time they use them, some people cleanse them once a month under the full moon, and some people only cleanse them if they seem "off", i.e. the energy or vibration they sense from the crystals isn't as strong. I always cleanse mine when I first acquire them to rid them of any energy they may have picked up before they came to me. I usually set them on the windowsill overnight and this works just fine.
A few times a year, I will set mine in salt and smudge them collectively. This is one of those things that it's best to try out a few methods and see which works best for you. There really is no right or wrong when it comes to this.
