Crystal Talk in December

We have reached the end of 2019 and I know for so many of us, this year has been tough. It's been filled with so many challenges and if we gave ourselves some space and a chance, a lot of growth was achieved this year. I hope that you can join me in being excited for what 2020 will bring us. We're going to face it when it arrives with courage, determination and a wink, because we've got this wink

Until then, here is my holiday favorite for you to play with this month!

Sunstone

This month we are taking a look at something sunny like Labradorite's cousin, Sunstone. A great crystal for each hemisphere because it's sunny, joyful, happy and it's also known to help relieve seasonal depression. This is especially helpful when it's cold, snowy and dark in the Northern Hemisphere, but it's also carefree and fun which is just as great for the summer months in the Southern Hemisphere.

Sunstone was used by the Canadian Indians in medicine wheel rituals, by the ancient Greeks to represent the Sun Gods, and in ancient India for protection from dark forces from other realms.

Sunstone brings light to all situations, and carrying a piece around with you can help your personal power to "shine." Dark moods are lifted and vitality increased when you work with Sunstone regularly and it can also help to install confidence, optimism, motivation and positive action into us. Lastly, Sunstone can help remove energy-draining hooks from your energy field. Let Sunstone shine light into the darkness and holes.

See you in 2020 and as always, creative crystal blessings,

This month we have two, awesome articles to share with you:
Dawn Marino, who works behind the scenes with some of the featured articles is sharing with us a piece about the Winter Solstice. Rachael who rocks the Instagram scene is sharing with us her top crystals for Empaths over the holidays. Let's dive in shall we!

Rebirth & Renewal: The Winter Solstice

Rebirth and Renewal: The Winter Solstice by Dawn Marino (Image by Mona Magnussen from Pixabay)

The Winter Season has arrived, and soon we will be celebrating the Winter Solstice. December 21st marks the occasion this year, also known as the shortest day of the year for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Considered the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter (or Hibernal) Solstice is a day that has the shortest amount of daylight and the longest night. The sun rises later and sets earlier during the Winter Solstice season. The tilt of the Earth’s axis at this time places the path of the Sun the farthest south from the Northern Hemisphere, and at the same time the farthest north in the Southern Hemisphere.

Spiritually, the Winter Solstice is a time of reflection and hope for the future. Since ancient times this dark and long night has signified that the Sun was getting ready to embark on the long journey back towards this side of the Earth. With the return of the Sun comes warmer, brighter days and a time of rebirth. The Winter Solstice is a day where the Sun appears to stand still in the sky, so this time is used to honor the upcoming changes of the Seasons. The energy of Mother Earth is that of revival and renewal during the Winter Solstice, evoking powerful opportunities for deep self-reflection.

People choose to honor this time of reflection in many ways, celebrating the changing season and all that is to come. The Winter Solstice is a great day to go for a quiet walk, focusing on elements of Nature all around you and enjoying the quiet. Warm baths with Epsom salt are also a good cleansing ritual for this long night. Traditions recommend to clear your space of clutter, both physically and emotionally. Tidy up your living space, and cleanse yourself and your space with herbs (such as Sage) and intentions. You may even set up an Altar with crystals to mark the coming Winter Solstice. Consider lighting some candles on your Alter, too, and write down your intentions for the season on paper to leave on your Altar. If you like essential oils, rich and warming scents such as Eucalyptus, Clove, Cinnamon, Sweet Orange and Rosemary make a wintery addition to your healing space. Dried herbs, such as white Sage and cedar, can be burned in a vessel at your Altar. Mantras or incantations that resonate to you for this time of reflection may be spoken. You may use this night to meditate and focus on the new season ahead. Say goodbye to the old and embrace the new!

Honoring the Winter Solstice, we can incorporate our healing crystals into our rituals, altars and meditations as we enforce our intentions and gratitude. Peridot is a great stone to represent rebirth and abundance. Peridot is a stone of prosperity and gentle compassion, with a green hue to represent the Heart Chakra. Garnet is another ideal healing crystal for the Winter Solstice, with gratitude and self-empowerment at the forefront to aide you during this transition. For emotional balance and healing during the Winter Solstice, try meditating with Amazonite. A stone of universal love, it is also soothing and calming. Moonstone is a special stone for new beginnings, so work with this stone for inner growth, stability, inspiration and fresh starts this season. Try Amethyst for release and transition, as this highly healing crystal may calmly aid in a shift in your consciousness. Lastly, to feel grounded, Black Onyx can center you and assist in releasing negative energy as you embrace the Winter Solstice.

The Winter Solstice represents a magical time of renewal and hope. New beginnings are on the horizon as we come into this transition period. Welcome this time with self love and healing, as well as honor and respect to the Earth and all that comes with this changing season.

With Gratitude,

Crystals to Support Empaths During the Holidays

Crystal Support for Empaths During Holidays

To my fellow empaths, the chaotic and overwhelming vibes of the holiday season can be difficult to manage with a sensitive and reactive nervous system.

For those get-togethers that we sometimes dread attending, consider carrying Black Tourmaline as an energetic defense and grounding influence, Amethyst to help relax an overstimulated nervous system and to protect against psychic invasion, and Citrine to promote the confidence to socialize and a sense of generosity to give without attaching to any return.

Allow yourself to get into a pleasant observer mode by imagining positive energy flowing from your eyes into the room and even step away for some space when necessary, as small talk and group settings can burden and overstimulate an empath’s system. Selenite can help transmute and move any of the empathic transmissions that were absorbed by placing pieces in any areas you perceive discomfort, overwhelm, and even physical pain. Lepidolite can help calm an overstimulated nervous system, alleviate anxiety, and even promote restful sleep.

For those who are experiencing loneliness at this time, allow Malachite to support the release of heavy and intense emotions; Morganite to promote a state of gentle and unconditional self-love, deep peace, and joy; and Apache Tear to process grief, encourage forgiveness, and release emotional blocks to a feeling of connection.

Warmest wishes this holiday season,
Rachael Shaffer
