Welcoming the month of August

Have you ever heard of "Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Night"? It is supposedly celebrated on the night of August the 8th and the premise behind it is:

"Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Night is a night when people who have grown too many zucchini squash are supposed to leave some in bag or box on a neighbor's porch or front step - hopefully without being chased like a burglar by their dog."

This definitely gave us a good giggle but also made us realise how special the meaning behind it is. So many folks are fighting battles we are unaware of and kindness isn't always our first reaction, but the world would be a sweeter place if we were more kind. Kinder to others, sharing with them what we can spare and being kind to ourselves, because we deserve it too.

Will you be sharing any Zucchini this year with fellow neighbors or a friend?

Here are a few highlights of some crystalicious items and offers you'll find from us online this month:

August 2021 - Promotions and Highlights

Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel, and it is used to describe energy centers in the body because chakras are portrayed as swirling vortexes. These energy centers are constantly moving: sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes vibrantly, sometimes sluggishly. It is normal for chakras to change because they are a reflection of our inner selves. Chakras show changes that are occurring in our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy bodies long before we recognize them consciously.

Broken Crystals are NOT accidents. If a crystal you are wearing or using breaks — Pay Attention. Working with Crystals has Higher Meanings. Crystals are Teachers and those who use crystals will experience benefits of crystals if they have eyes to see and ears to hear or — if they want to go deeper and transform their lives.

Are Your Crystals Safe in Water?

Can you be sure that your crystals are safe in water?

There is a lot of bad information out there about solubility, toxicity, and other safety concerns when it comes to crystals.

The most persistent myth is that crystals whose names end in the suffix -ite are not water safe. This is 100% incorrect. The only thing -ite means is “rock.” It is a contracted form of the suffix -lite, derived from the Greek word “lithos,” meaning “rock.” The -ite ending does not convey any meaning or relationship to chemistry, structure, water solubility, or anything else. It literally and only means “rock.” Lots of minerals that end in -ite are perfectly safe for immersion in water (morganite, elbaite, topazolite, andradite, etc.). Lots of stones ending in -ite are in no way safe to put in water (villaumite, hanksite, halite, etc.) lots of minerals whose names do NOT end in -ite are also really dangerous to put in water, like realgar and cinnabar.

The only way to know if something is water-safe is to look up the physical and chemical properties of a rock or mineral. It’s best to avoid minerals with a hardness below 5-6 on the Mohs scale; even if they are generally water stable, it’s possible that the dissolved solids in the water you’re using can dull the finish or otherwise interact with the stone.

Also avoid stones that are soluble, friable, strongly porous, or contain toxic ingredients. Never ingest an elixir or gem-infused water made with a stone attached to unidentified or questionable matrix or unknown inclusions. It’s imperative that you avoid most dyed, stabilised, and otherwise treated stones, too (heat-treatment is generally safe).

Bear in mind that some ingredients on their own can be harmful, but can be inert in a Crystal lattice. Aluminium, for example, is known to cause a number of medical problems if it accumulated in the human body, but ruby (a variety of corundum or aluminium oxide), is safe and stable. Also bear in mind that nature is perfectly imperfect, and there are generally always trace elements and minute inclusions of accessory minerals in virtually any stone. When in doubt, use always use an indirect method to make essences.

A certified teacher of Usui Reiki Ryoho, he teaches crystal and Reiki classes throughout the United States. The author of The Seven Archetypal Stones and Crystals for Karmic Healing, he lives in Orlando, Florida.

Crystal of the Month - Peridot

Peridot has also been identified as Olivine or Chrysolite. It is a light green to olive green crystal that ranges from translucent to opaque. It may have a yellow tint, and often has a glassy luster. Most Peridot contains magnesium-rich Forsterite and its color is caused by the presence of iron ions.

A high-vibrational Heart chakra crystal, Peridot carries a positive energy that is helpful for those undergoing traumatic emotional situations. The strong Heart chakra energies are what give Peridot its ability to bring out unconditional Love and help those who are working to lessen the effects of the ego in their lives.

Peridot can work with both the Heart and Solar-Plexus chakras to affect an understanding of the role relationships play in one’s life, whether romantic, friendly, or otherwise. As such, Peridot is a good crystal to wear or carry during interactions with others. Peridot is also a protective crystal, offering a supportive energy to keep chakras in balance and alignment, especially after any type of energy healing work has been done on the body. These "maintenance" type energies make Peridot exceptional in group situations, offering its upbeat and comforting vibe to all nearby. It is a wonderful crystal to use in increasing Reiki energy.

Peridot is often used to attract money and abundance, especially when placed in the home or a charm bag. Put Peridot in a purse or near a computer to keep from overspending as well as getting the best ‘deal’ on e-commerce sites.

Physically, gemmy Peridot offers deep healing vibrations to the whole body, and can be especially helpful to those recovering from illness or accidents. Specifically, Peridot can relieve allergic reactions, ease problems of the lungs, heart, and stomach, and is believed to assist in childbirth.
