Crystal Talk in AugustDid you know that in August on the 6th it is "Wiggle Your Toes Day" and on the 8th it is "Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Night"? I thought this was so funny and I had to share it. We are moving closer toward the end of the year and I've always noticed that the closer we creep to the end, the more stressed out we become. August reminds us to be a little more carefree and actually have a little fun. Can you remember when you did something crazy and kookie? We don't do it enough!
Allow me to share my favorite all-round crystals that can be used through any, if not all challenges and opportunities.
Clear Quartz - known as the master healer and the one crystal to suit them all as I say. I find Clear Quartz works so well when you don't know what you want and you need to get more clear. There's something something about working with it during those times, that really helps you to align. My Clear Quartz Dodecahedron (shape pictured above) has always been close to my heart and recently I was reminded that this shape can be associated with the Throat Chakra. Co-incidently, it was the Chakra I was working on at the time. Clear Quartz, always making things clear *wink* Selenite - is one of the most used and loved crystal. Known for it's clearing properties but I honestly find it to be super comforting and really suitable for anything because it has this feeling of Angelic Love being attached to it. Apophyllite - known as the Reiki stone and for so long I shied away from it because I wasn't a Reiki therapist but boy did I miss out. It's so high vibe and really leaves you feeling in a good mood. It's also a great one for distance healing and anyone can be do that! Just hold your Apophyllite while sending love which the world can sure do with more of. Creative Crystal Blessings, |
This month we have two, awesome articles to share with you. Nicole Marie from Sol Path Tarot and Crystal Magick shares with us her favorite crystals for children going back to school! This is one filled with great crystal companions and support! Beth from Dignity Holistic Care shares with us a short chakra introduction in spirit of Chakra week which we tend to celebrate during August.
As we head toward fall, which is the best season in my opinion, many of our kids are starting to head back to school. This can be a fun and exciting time for some of them, while it can be an anxious and frustrating time for others. Wearing crystal jewelry or discreetly keeping them in a backpack are excellent ways to use crystals while at school. Whether your kids love school or hate it, here are 9 crystals that can help them rock this school year:
Amazonite - This crystal can alleviate fear and frustration. It helps filter incoming information and can improve outward communication.
Blue Lace Agate - This one is great for shy kids. It helps them express their thoughts while also alleviating stress. It neutralizes feelings of being judged or rejected and soothes feelings of anger. Also helps with improving communication.
Sodalite - Improves logic and encourages harmony in situations where kids are working in groups. It also dispels confusion. This really is a great stone for learning of all kinds. It facilitates the process of new information and helps reorganize thought patterns.
Fluorite - This crystal is THE crystal for students who are chronically disorganized. It improves mental coordination and helps students process new information while promoting quick thinking.
Tiger Eye - This is a good stone for protection. It also helps students set and accomplish goals. It's great for helping you focus and giving you a confidence boost.
Black Tourmaline - If your child is very sensitive to the energy of other people, then black tourmaline is a great one to have on hand to help ground them and protect them from the overwhelming amount of energy that is often found in the school setting. It can dispel negativity from bullies. It may help students who suffer from dyslexia.
Moonstone - Moonstone is great for balancing hormones, and if your child is a teen, then I don't need to tell you why this crystal would be good for them! It may even help students who suffer from ADD/ADHD.
Hematite - This is another great one for older teens and has similar properties to black tourmaline, as far as protection against being bombarded with energy and against bullies. It also improves focus and concentration while boosting self-esteem. (Should not be used for extended lengths of time or on younger children).
Sardonyx - My favorite thing about Sardonyx is its ability to draw in new friendships. For a kid starting at a new school or looking for a new crowd to run with, this is the crystal for them. It will help strengthen the holder's character and help them overcome shyness. It's also a good one for processing information while they are studying.

Have you ever tried Googling “the chakras”? So much information comes up! Where do you begin?
There are said to be over 300 chakras in and around the body, however, we will only cover the main 7 starting with the root chakra and working our way up to the crown chakra. Each chakra has a mantra, a food group, and particular crystals that are associated with it. Chakras also have a linking verb for a reminder of the chakra action. Because chakras are steeped in yogic and Indian tradition, each chakra has a Sanskrit name attached as listed below.
The root chakra, or the Muladhara chakra, is the first chakra, and its color is red. It is associated with grounding, safety, and security, and is located at the base of the spine in the perineum area. Its mantra is LAM. The corresponding food includes meat and root vegetables. There are several crystals that can be used to balance the root chakra. A few include golden tiger eye, red jasper, obsidian, hematite, or garnet. The linking verb is, I am.
The sacral chakra, or the Svadhisthana chakra, is the second chakra. Its color is orange, and is associated with emotions, sexuality, and creativity. The sacral chakra is located just below the navel and its mantra is VAM. Liquids, especially teas and water, are the corresponding foods, and carnelian, orange calcite, golden tiger eye, and sunstone crystals are a few crystals often used to help balance this chakra. The linking verb is, I feel.
The solar plexus, or the Manipura chakra, is the third chakra, and its color is yellow. It is associated with confidence, self-esteem and personal power. The solar plexus is located in the upper abdomen between the navel and the bottom of the breast bone, and its mantra is RAM. Carbs are the foods that are associated with this chakra, and a few crystals that are used for balance include citrine, pyrite, or yellow calcite. The linking verb is, I do.
The heart chakra, or the Anahata chakra, is the fourth chakra, and is located in the middle of the body at the heart center. Its color is green, and it is associated with the connection of others and yourself, balance, and compassion. The mantra for the heart chakra is YAM, and vegetables are the associated foods. Many crystals, both green and pink, correspond with this chakra. A few of these include emerald, malachite, aventurine, rose quartz or rhodonite. The linking verb is, I love.
The throat chakra, or the Vishuddha chakra, is the fifth chakra. Its color is blue and it is located in the throat area. The throat chakra is the source of verbal expression and allows us to communicate fully with ourselves and with others. The mantra for this chakra is HAM. A few crystals that are appropriate for this chakra include lapis lazuli, sodalite, blue lace agate, or celestite, and foods for this chakra include fruits. The linking verb is, I speak.
The brow/third eye chakra, or the Anja chakra, is the sixth chakra which is located at the middle of the forehead, or 3rd eye area. This chakra corresponds with intuition, imagination, insight, meditation, and perception. Its color is indigo, but sometimes shown as purple or violet. Again, sodalite or lapis lazuli are both good for the brow chakra, as well as labradorite, amethyst, or purple fluorite. The mantra for the 3rd eye chakra is AUM, and the linking verb is, I see.
The crown chakra, or the Sahaswara chakra, is the seventh and final chakra we will learn about. It is located at the top of your head and is linked to awareness, meaning, knowing, and spirituality. The color is violet, and is at times shown as white. Its mantra is OM, and there is no food choice attached as this is the highest level obtained and fasting should occur. A few crystals associated with the crown chakra include amethyst, selenite, clear quartz, or ametrine. The linking verb for this chakra is, I know.
Chakras are in or out of balance at all times. Bring awareness to how your body is feeling to see where in your body you are feeling “off”. If there is stagnant or blocked energy in one chakra, the energy is stagnant or blocked in the other chakras above it. For example, if your throat feels as if something is caught, your throat chakra may be need to be cleansed. If you have a headache, you may need to cleanse your 3rd eye or visualize opening your crown chakra. Or, if your thoughts feel scattered, your root chakra may need to be brought back in line through grounding.
In order to re-aligned your chakras, you can use the crystals or stones mentioned in each description above by placing them on your body in the areas of which you are having dis-ease and blockage. You can also clear and clean your chakras through meditation, repeating the mantra that is associated with the out of balanced chakra, reiki or other hands on energy healing such as crystal healing (both of which would be performed by a certified professional), or through yoga or breath work.
Remember to take care of yourself, to be mindful of the feelings you are experiencing, and to check in with those chakras!!
