My First Moonstone

By Lourdes Lebron

I love shopping for crystals and have done so since I first became interested in them. On one shopping trip to an out-of-state mall, my family and I came across a store that sold African artifacts and lots of crystal jewelry.  I am really blessed to have a tolerant husband and patient kids as I honed in on that store like a missile to a target. I “oohed” and “ahhed” over every crystal I saw. There were pendants, bracelets, rings, earrings, and so much more. There were one- of- a-kind pieces in displays that took my breath away and that I couldn’t stop admiring.

The gentleman running the store was lovely and let me hold each and every crystal that caught my eye.  From Aventurine to Moldavite, it was all there and I held each single one that I could. I had picked up quite a few crystals, when I came across a Rainbow Moonstone Pendant.  It was very pretty, but since I had gone way over my budget at this point, I was reluctant to touch it in case I wanted it. The gentleman at the store was intuitive and strongly suggested I look at this crystal.  He picked it up and put in my palm.  No sooner than he had placed it in my palm than the crystal jumped. He looked at me and I looked at him and he shook his head to clear his sight.  He looked at it again and the Moonstone  jumped again.  He could not believe what happened and just stared at me in disbelief.  Although I had been explaining the power of crystals to him, he didn’t believe it until that moment.  I, of course, was in love with this happy and spirited crystal and wasn’t planning on letting it get away.  I had never experienced such an outward display from any crystal and knew that it had found a new home.

Since he was such a lovely soul, he let me put it on layaway (along with a Moldavite piece : ) even though it wasn’t store policy.  He was smart; the next time I went to see him and picked up the piece, I ended up taking home a lot more crystals and he had learned a lot more about crystals : )
