Black Tourmaline Chunks

Question:

"My adult son, who has severe autism, often has trouble sleeping. My research also brought me to a recommendation to try a crystal called Black Tourmaline.

I've never used crystals before and need guidance as to weight, quantity, and placement. Should I get several small pieces and place them in a small basket or one giant, heavy stone and let it sit out freely? I guess I'm wondering if there is a total amount of weight that you recommend, regardless of if the weight is met by getting one stone or several, or if it's better to have several loose stones make up the weight. Is the quantity or weight based on the size of the area (the bedroom size is roughly 11-1/2 x 10-1/2 ), the person (adult male, 130 lbs), or both?

My son sleeps on the side of his Queen bed nearest the door; the other side is against a wall. The bed has a storage headboard with several open cubby-type compartments and a flat shelf for the top, but no footboard. There is a table a few feet from the side of the bed and a tall dresser at the foot of the bed. My son usually sleeps with his door closed and he cannot access the outside of the house from his room.

How do I care for Black Tourmaline - wash it regularly with soap and water, rinse it with water only, or just wipe it with a soft cloth?

Thank you in advance for your guidance!"

Answer:

Greetings D,

Thank you for reaching out with your question.

Firstly, let me reassure you that I have never heard of size or weight of the person or the room being a factor in a crystal's ability to assist the human body. A crystal can be as small as your fingernail or as large as a house and it's vibrational effect will be the same as long as it is near or within the vibrational field of the body. So that means it could be under the side of the mattress where he sleeps, in the headboard cubbies, or even on the night stand. Basically wherever you feel they would do him the most good. I might suggest under the mattress first and then you can move them later if you feel they are not helping. Three or four tumbles or small raw pieces would be fine laid out along where he sleeps under the mattress.

And relax! Crystal use is all about trusting your intuition and getting a feel for the crystals. Not everything we read online will have credibility so always check more than one source of information.

Black Tourmaline can be very helpful as it provides a sense of grounding and stability for us but there are also several others that can assist with sleep. And yes, they can be used together or on their own if you choose. Trust your intuition! AmethystHowliteLepidolite or Rose Quartz are also great ones for sleep. You can find lots of information on crystals in our Metaphysical Directory

I hope you find this helpful!

Disagree with: "A crystal can be as small as your fingernail or as large as a house and its vibrational effect will be the same as long as it is near or within the vibrational field of the body." As a general rule for most stones, minerals or crystals, size matters, as well as shape and form, with the larger well formed minerals with larger individual crystals tend to be the most powerful in vibration. Size especially matters because for the effect of the energies emanated from the crystal to take full effect, one must first quantum entangle with the stone, mineral or crystal. Quantum entangling is an exchange of energies between the human and the consciousness within the crystal. The exchange is a cooperative one and involves both the free will of the consciousness attached to the crystal and the consciousness attached to the human. In other words, some crystals may decide not to work with the person. Generally anything above 1" diameter is a good rule of thumb on being able to quantum entangle quickly. But the 1" rule is very general. Just like each human is unique, each stone is unique. To quantum entangle, one must be in close proximity to the stone. Best is to actually wear the stone and have direct contact with the skin, although some do just as well in a pocket. The farther the distance from the crystal the less direct effect the energy field the crystal is emanating will have on the person. However, shape and form can partly overcome the distance rule. In the case in question of using black tourmaline to attempt to improve sleep, if the pieces cannot be worn and have striated formations I would place them as close as possible to the person's head at night and with the striation lines directed toward the person. For other types of crystals, if they have termination points the energy is focused through the points (commonly known as a generator crystal) so the points should be directed toward the person.  (Submitted by: Steve on July 09, 2021)
