What is the difference between Rose Quartz and Rose Quartz crystals?
Hi Greg,
Quartz forms in a variety of shapes and sizes (massive, crystals, clusters, druzy, etc), depending on location and other factors. Rose Quartz, we now know, is no different. In the past, Rose Quartz was most often found in massive formations (big chunks of solid rock). Rose Quartz crystals are a recent (in the past five years or so?) find from Brazil. Instead of the massive formation that we are used to, these pieces actually form as crystals with six sided points, etc. Most of those that are found (or rather, the ones I have seen) seem to be in small clusters. Many times, there is an inclusion of Smoky Quartz and many times, they may take on an elestial configuration.
Rose Quartz crystals are not as common as massive Rose Quartz, but as mining continues, they will become more readily available.
So, on one hand, there is no difference — they are both Rose Quartz
On the other hand, there is a difference — one is massive while the other is in the form of crystals.
I hope this has been helpful :)
With love and crystal blessings,
Kristi
