Crystals, Minerals & Tumbled Stones

Hi all,

I'm putting together set of stones that are called "Kahuna Stones". If
you're wondering, this is from Hawaiian Huna Shamanism (which I'm learning).
The set consists of 7 stones around 1/2" or so in size. They should be
around the same size. They also need to be pretty durable stone (like quartz
or Jasper) because they'll be thrown. One important feature is the colors.
The stones need need to be one each of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue,
Violet, and White.

So, here's the ideas I had for these different colors. I'd like to get your
opinion on these if you don't mind.

Red - Red Jasper.

Orange - Not sure on this one. How 'orange' is Carnelian? Can you think of
anything else?

Yellow - Yellow Jasper? Is this a good yellow?

Green - Green Quartz or Green Aventurine.

Blue - Blue Quartz ? or maybe Sodalite though I'm not sure of Sodalite's
durability. What else would work?

Violet - Amethyst. Some of your violet amethyst should be good.

White - Clear Quartz can do for this. Especially if it's 'B' grade with a
lot of white in it. Or do you know of another quartz-related white stone?

Just so you'll know, I figure I'm going to be putting in a 'wholesale'
quantity order for each different stone.

Thanks very much,

Hi Tom,

Congrats on taking the Hawaiian Huna Shamanism course!  Sounds fun.  Thanks for asking about the 7 stones for throwing. I thought you had the right idea about which stones would be the most durable, but here are some additions:

Red       Red Jasper, Brecciated Jasper, Garnet
          (Garnet is the hardest)

Orange    Carnelian would be best.  The extra is a great orange color.

Yellow    Yellow Jasper, Tiger Eye (golden color), Citrine (is more yellow)
          (These are all hard material)

Green     Green Quartz, Green Aventurine, Emerald, Green Tourmaline
          (these are all hard material)

Blue      Sodalite, Blue Quartz, Lapis Lazuli (blue quartz is the hardest)

Violet    Amethyst (violet is good)

White     White Jasper, Clear Quartz, Howlite  CQ is the hardest.(B would work just fine)

Have fun with this!  We look forward to your order and your fun comments!  I just dug into the "recycled bubble" the other day and thought of the fun note you sent!

Love and Light,
