I found this fascinating because three of my family members on my fathers side have this issue (grandfather, father, and two of my father's children).
I decided to first go to Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life, and look up hernia. Louise Hay states that the probable cause for any type of hernia (including Hiatal Hernias) includes ruptured relationships, strain, burdens, and incorrect creative expression. I always find her spiritual assessment interesting and quite helpful.
I know other factors such as stress and anxiety, eating acidic foods and even pregnancy can cause increased symptoms. So, let me recommend some crystals that I think will be helpful for stress/anxiety, cooling/healing esophageal tissues and easing the backwash of acid into the esophagus that occurs with this condition.
