Amethyst is really the best stone for cancer in general, whereas I would say Bloodstone is great for healing ailments of the pancreas. Amethyst carries powerful healing energies for the endocrine system, the immune system, and can be beneficial for cellular dysfunction. Bloodstone was known to be used as a powerful healing stone, with specific effects on cancer. One stone that seems to have benefits for your friend's specific condition is Carnelian. Carnelian is helpful for issues involving the Sacral Chakra, including the pancreas, and is also used to help overcome cancer. While all three of these stones have energies that can help your friend, the Amethyst can also facilitate the spiritual healing that is so necessary to a full recovery. It would also be important for someone with cancer to have the grounding, Root Chakra stone, Black Obsidian, to help ground extraneous or unhealthy energies out of the body, to be transmuted by the Earth.
These crystals could be combined in a body layout to help clear away energy blockages in and between the chakras: Amethyst on the Third-Eye and/or Crown Chakras, Bloodstone on the Heart Chakra, Carnelian on the Sacral Chakra, and Obsidian on the Root Chakra. It might be a good idea for your friend to spend a day or two with each stone individually before doing the body layout, to help ease the energies together before doing the actual healing work. This would be a type of introductory period, during which to get to know one's crystals.
