"I'm learning to be a massage therapist and am having a lot of trouble with not letting other people's energy effect me or visa versa. It's starting to really take its toll on my physical/emotional health. What would you recommend?"



Dear M,

Congratulations on working on becoming a massage therapist. As someone who is empathic, you may find that crystals and energy work will help you in dealing with unwanted energies.

Here is a link to an article I wrote on how to protect yourself at your workplace. I highly recommend the exercises and crystals in the article.

For your personally, if you have a massage table, I would place protective crystals like Black Tourmaline and Obsidian underneath the table. If you are going to working on someone on mats, then wearing these crystals would also be beneficial. If you are allowed to, placing a grid made of Selenite and Black Tourmaline in the room you are working in would be of assistance.  Many people I know who work with the public, keep a piece of Amethyst Druze with them to assist them with protection.

  I have been a massage therapist for 19 years now. Thankfully our instructor covered that topic with us and was a Reiki master. Those of us interested were given the appropriate chakra attunements. I left massage school a Reiki 1 practitioner. It has kept me from having the problem you are discussing. Once you’re attuned it’s there for life. I highly recommend for all massage therapist.   I am a working CMT and initially had the same issues. My best suggestion is to meditate daily and visualize being surrounded by protective white light. Also, I always carry my crystals: amythyst, rose quartz, hemitite, black tourmaline, lapis lazuli and selenite. Not all at once of course, but i make my choice depending on my mood and/or schedule each day.
