For beginners, I like to recommend a chakra set, which will give you a variety of common crystals to work with. You can find them all here: Chakra Sets
My favorites here are the 11pc Chakra Set with Tumbled Stones which I feel is lovely for children because they're smooth and gentle, but you could also go with the Natural Rough Chips/Chunks Set.
