Question:
"Is it okay to purposely break a crystal or crush? I'm new to crystals and want to make sure I'm not releasing bad or negative energy."
Answer:
Hi there J,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
I feel that you could do this, without there being a problem concerning the crystal's energy. Remember, the rocks are hammered and chipped away at with tools, in the first place, to remove them from the earth.
Your intention of wanting to crush the crystals for whatever reason (to make sleeping cushions, chips for your potted plants, chips for your altar, etc) is what's most important so think about why you want to do what you want to do.
I do advise wearing some protective gear (goggles and a mask), finding out what number the hardness of the crystal is according to the mohs scale to know if it's more likely to break apart cleanly or if it might shatter, as well as researching whether the crystal is toxic or not (read more here).
I hope this helps and have fun!
