Black Kyanite Blades

Question:

"I’m confused about Black Kyanite. If it is supposed to be a powerful, all-around grounding and healing crystal, I thought that would be exactly what someone with a low vibration and blockages would need. Because of depression and severe anxiety, my master reiki practitioner had me hold a piece of black kyanite in my hand during a session. I felt like it helped to ground me for that session and be able to experience some benefit. I struggle to ground myself, relax, and open up when alone meditating, but since holding the black kyanite during that session seemed helpful, I thought I should find one for myself. But this article and another one seemed to discourage people like me who almost always vibrate at a low level due to depression and anxiety, from purchasing this crystal. Now I don’t know what to do. Any input in layman’s terms? Thanks."

Answer:

Hi there E,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Crystals effect all of us differently and honestly, I don't feel that Black Kyanite would be unsuitable for someone with anxiety or depression IF they were drawn to it. I find it quite a good crystal for cutting cords and I've never used it specifically for grounding, but I shall give you my suggestions below.

Being drawn to the crystal you're being recommended is what matters more in my opinion, than just getting a crystal because someone said it's suitable for you. If you're not drawn to a crystal, it's going to do nothing for you really, even with all the best intentions. The match isn't compatible.

For grounding, my personal favourite is a big chunk of Black Tourmaline. The bigger and more natural the better for me personally because I struggle very much to ground and this is all I've found that works for me. However, other good grounding stones include Hematite (great for those who struggle with grounding because it's more a metal), Smokey QuartzRed Jasper, and Petrified Wood.

For additional grounding support, I recommend putting a piece of your chosen grounding stone at your Root Chakra and then with the intention to ground, see how you feel. If you cannot feel your energy come down, then that's okay. For your next meditation, put the piece between your feet or a little bit lower at the Earth Star Chakra and ground from there instead. A lot of people put focus on grounding at the Root Chakra and this doesn't work for everyone out there.
If you can ground outside, that is always best but if you can't, intentionally visualise grounding DOWN into the earth. See yourself connecting to the earth's core.

For depression and anxiety, my favourite combo is Lepidolite and Black Tourmaline. Lepidolite can help support relieving the anxiety, stress or depression with its trace amounts of lithium, and the Black Tourmaline grounds because you need that balance. Lepidolite on its own can work, but I always recommend a grounder with it.

So in short, if you're attracted to Black Kyanite, go with that Elise. If you're not, take a look at the suggestions and see if there's a grounder that is better for you which you're drawn to.

If you're stuck anywhere else, I'm here.
