Agatized Coral is tan, light cream or light brown, with cream fossilized spots or patterns that resemble flowers or suns. It occurs naturally when silica in ocean water hardens, replacing the limey corals with Agate, a variety of Chalcedony. This long fossilization process (20–30 million years) results in the formation of a "pseudomorph," meaning that one mineral has replaced another without having lost its original form.
