I realize that both side would never reach an agreement on what is or what can be accomplished when dealing with crystals and minerals.. True I have used this site many times in my effort to stay informed of all types of techniques. The cleansing article is very well drawn out but I still have an issue with the "Sun and Salt".
In an attempt to "not" step on anyones toes.. I wanted to suggest to many of you (even though HealingCrystals has made a small effort to say this in their posts and articles) One should never place their minerals or crystals in the sun for any length of time.. One should never cleans minerals or crystals with a salt base substance.. I found that "mineral water" (contains less salt or no salt) or "a clear running stream" (going to test this in late June, will bring back some photos)
Again this is my own personal view..
Hey Wizard,
I am totally with you on the salt cleansing technique. Salt tends to scratch or get into crevices, even remove protective coatings, etc. Of course, this is just my personal opinion

I did write an article for healing crystals on this and did make a comment about salt as a caution, but as you say, everyone has their own ways, so all we can do is honor it and go on

Just to refresh, "A lot of crystals can be damaged by a chemical reaction with the salt, which may change the appearance (looking scratched or as if the finish has been removed, etc.). Many times pieces are coated with a high temperature wax (such as shoe polish). Salt is corrosive, so putting these pieces in salt or salt water actually removes this coating, which gives the appearance of scratching, pitting or a flat finish."
I agree about the sun as well.
"Putting your crystals out in the sun to cleanse is perfectly OK, just a few suggestions when you do so. Do not put in hot, direct sunlight. Some crystals may fracture with sudden temperature changes or while under intense heat. Others will fade."
