I use a Smokey Quartz quite often and I notice that the stone cracks fairly quickly. It doesn't break just cracks, I do suffer from stress and depression and some anger issues which is why I use it, is that why it cracks? Does that affect the stone and should I replace it when it cracks?

Hi B,

Thank you for contacting us with your question about cracks in your Smokey Quartz. Cracking can happen for a few reasons. First, the crystal has not been cleared often enough for the amount of work its doing. Perhaps your current method of clearing your crystal is not adequate, or you need to clear it more often? A crystal doing heavy-duty energy work as you describe, should be cleared daily if possible. Here is a link to more information about clearing crystals in case you need it.

The cracking won't make the crystal unusable, but if it's happening with every piece of Smokey Quartz you use, it is also time to consider the possibility that you need to work with a different crystal entirely and the Smokey Quartz keeps cracking because it's not the right crystal for you at the moment. Here is a link to our Crystals for Common Conditions to help you chose some other possible crystals for your current needs.
I hope this information has been helpful to you.  And of course, if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again!

Crystal Blessings!
