Thank you so much for your question about the difference between Onyx, Obsidian, Black Tourmaline and Black Quartz. All are similar in that they are grounding and protective but here are the unique elements of each:
Black Onyx:
Helps to prevent the drain of personal energy, attracts material goods and is good to use in manifestation work.
BlackObsidian:
Releases energy blocks and allows the truth to come to the surface. This is very intense energy and you want to be prepared to deal with what is uncovered when you work with this crystal.
Black Tourmaline:
Transmutes negative energy into positive energy. It is cleansing, purifying and has a calming effect when dealing with difficult and damaging issues.
Black Quartz:
Balances the Chakras and cleanses the aura. It will remove impurities and replaces it with cleansing energies.
