I have heard it said that we live in strange and uncertain times. Some people are currently living in a state of fear based on what they are seeing in the media. After seeing a number of requests for information on protective stones, I felt it would be useful to write an article on the subject. By working with the energies of crystals, it is possible to understand the perfection of the universe and one can often find a peace in knowing that all is as it should be.

There are so many protective stones in the mineral kingdom, that I could probably write a whole book on the subject. In this article, I will focus on those crystals that can give you the most “bang for the buck” so to speak, so as to make the prospect of working with protective stones feasible for all who wish to do so.

Here is a list of protective stones that we recommend:

Black Tourmaline - A very widely known stone of protection is Black Tourmaline. Commonly used by Crystal-Healers, Black Tourmaline is a great ally for those exposed to negative energies regularly. It can protect you against electromagnetic smog and debilitating diseases. Black Tourmaline helps to clear the aura and surrounding environment of negative vibrations. It can be very helpful during these changing times, and is supportive of the vibrational shift that the planet is currently undergoing. Black Tourmaline helps to balance all of the subtle energy bodies with the physical, encouraging a harmony of vibration which in turns, can facilitate a greater flow in our lives. Specifically, Black Tourmaline can protect against psychic attacks, negative entities, and psychic debris.

Hematite - Hematite helps to absorb negative energy and calms you in times of stress or worry. Hematite is a very protective stone, and is great to carry to help you stay grounded in many situations. Hematite can boost confidence, and is also good for working with the Root Chakra.

Selenite - A protective stone, Selenite shields a person or space from outside influences. Selenite can evoke protection from the angelic realm and also dispels negative energy. Selenite calms and brings deep peace, and offers access to past and future lives. Selenite brings mental clarity, clearing confusion and revealing the bigger picture behind problems. Use Selenite in a grid around your home or in the corners of a room to create a safe and peaceful space. Selenite also removes energy blocks from physical and etheric bodies. Selenite is said to reverse the effects of “free radicals” to heal and repair on the cellular level.

Malachite - Popular in metaphysical circles, Malachite is another stone of protection. Often carried as a good-luck charm, Malachite offers positive vibrations to fill one’s energy field, which repels negativity. Malachite can facilitate the opening of the Heart Chakra, making one more aware of the subtle energies nearby. It also can fortify the aura against any malevolent vibes that may be coming your way. Malachite can pull lower density energies out of one’s energy field, which helps to fortify the aura against any attachments. For those who tend to play the victim in most situations, Malachite can free us to become participants in life, consciously creating our reality instead of thinking that it is happening to us. By working with the flow of life, attachments to negative thought patterns can be released, which attracts more positive synchronicities to the individual. Amber - Another excellent stone for protection is Amber, which isn’t a crystal at all. As fossilized tree sap, Amber has the ability to envelope one in the Earth’s protective vibrations when necessary. It brings a warm, loving energy that helps one to resist the infiltration of negative vibrations into the auric field. Amber can be an aid to any karmic work undertaken by cleaning up negative vibes from the past. Something to keep in mind when considering working with stones for protection is that intention is an important key when doing any type of energy work. Be clear about what it is you are trying to accomplish, and think of it in positive terms. Since we are talking about protection, in your work with protective stones, it is important to visualize yourself as being comfortable, peaceful, happy, well, free, confident, or whatever adjectives that describe for you what it feels like to be protected. Because what we think about expands, it is useful to focus on what you want and on the desirable qualities that you are trying to achieve. Above all, know that your Angels are always with you, that all is as it should be, and that the Universe was created in Divine perfection.
