"Crystals for the Throat Chakra"

This next article in our chakra series begins the higher group of chakras with the Throat
Chakra. This energy center is the seat of our creative self-expression, and is where
our desire to speak the truth resides. Located in the hollow part between the two
clavicle bones, the Throat Chakra rules the thyroid gland, and governs the mouth, neck,
shoulders, arms, and hands. It is from this chakra, that we receive our ability to
connect and communicate with others. The color of the Throat Chakra is a deep blue,
its musical note is G, its planet is Mercury, and its metal is also Mercury.
Connected to the Etheric Body, the Throat Chakra is the link between the higher
chakras and the center and lower chakras, so it is through this energy center that
intuition and divine inspiration from the Third-Eye and Crown Chakras may be translated
into physical expressions for manifestation in the 3D reality.
The Throat Chakra provides energy needed for the discovery of our own personal truth.
A well-functioning Throat Chakra may manifest itself in a person as charisma, charm,
honesty, expressiveness, eloquence, and a healthy desire to know the truth of any
circumstance. Those with an active and open Throat Chakra include, artists, writers,
singers, speakers, evangelists, teachers, and politicians. A Throat Chakra that is
too open may show in someone as insensitivity, rudeness, crassness, and even verbal abuse.
Those who have an unbalanced throat chakra have a tendency to let it all out
without reservation, even if it means emotionally hurting another.
A closed Throat Chakra can show up as shyness, dishonesty, or an inability to communicate
clearly. It can also create a jamming up of energy in this area, not allowing it to
flow into other energy centers. Blockages can form in the Throat Chakra as a result
of being in a situation in which you are not allowed to speak your mind. It can come
from being in a relationship with an overbearing mate who puts others‘ views down, or
from growing up in a household where children are “seen and not heard”.
The Throat Chakra can also become blocked as a result of a work situation where
opinions are not valued or appreciated. When our opinion is discounted and
trivialized, we have a tendency to react by blocking the Throat Chakra. As time
passes, we may notice a sense of being generally stifled. Eventually, this can
evolve into physical ailments such as TMJ, sore throats, laryngitis, stuttering, and
swollen glands.
Those who are unfamiliar with using crystals can choose stones from the blue colors for
their work with the Throat Chakra. Most of the Throat Chakra stones can also be
beneficial for the Third-Eye Chakra as well. These stones can be worn, held, or
placed directly on the Throat Chakra for their effects to be experienced. The
crystals most commonly attributed to the Throat Chakra are:
