Hi. This question is for a crystal expert. I really like the protective and dispelling powers of Black Tourmaline, but I've read that it returns ill wishings/spells back to the source. My intent is never to return wrong doing, but just to clear or protect myself or space from it. Also would "source" be the person that wished it or casted it? Do you have more specifics on this? The last thing I want to do is build up more karma for myself.. Thanks in advance and I truly appreciate your advise!

Thanks for contacting us with you questions. I love Black Tourmaline too and I think it does a great job at protecting people from negativity. Yes, it can return negativity and ill-wishing to the source. I agree with you that I don’t believe in ever sending negativity or bad vibes of any kind directed at another person. However, I don’t believe that returning energy to its source is the same thing. Giving someone back their own energy, be it positive or negative, is their own karma, not yours, and the best place to send this energy so that others are not affected. After all, whatever we do comes back to us.
If you are concerned about someone who is sending lots of negative vibes your way, I would strongly recommend putting Black Tourmaline around your home, especially in the four corners. Wearing or carrying a piece with you will also help. Please remember to clear their energy frequently to keep them working at their best.
One other thing to note, not all negativity is from other people and sometimes it is from the environment around us or we even draw negative energies to ourselves. Wearing Black Tourmaline will also protect you from this type of negative energy. You can also place Rose Quartz and Green Aventurine around your space to energize it with a more positive, loving, peaceful energy. I hope this helps.
