I'm Worried About Using Crystals That Are Toxic

I've always been interested in crystals. However, after reading over this list of "Cautions", it worried me. What I don't understand is, are these crystals dangerous? The two that really scared me were Orpiment and Realgar. Why do you sell these if they contain high levels of arsenic? I have a dog that puts everything she can find in her mouth. So, now I'm worried about having crystals around for fear it may contain something that would really make her sick or kill her.

Hi S,

Thank you for your inquiry and I can understand your concern.  We do not carry "Orpiment" or "Realgar" for sale on our site, they are merely listed in the list for your information.  From the article introduction:

"It is not meant to perpetuate fear or anxiety, but instead to educate and share our deep respect for the crystal and mineral kingdom. Most on the list are geared toward internal use with a few being cautionary for external use. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you wash your hands after using any crystal/mineral. It keeps our mineral friends clean and is a great way to show respect to ourselves and our crystal/mineral family."

Depending on how you utilize crystals, most are safe to use without risk of toxicity.  Many people like to meditate with crystals, sleep with them, carry them in their pocket, wear them in their jewelry, the list goes on and on.  Many of these methods don't involve prolonged contact with the skin directly, and although some do, even less require internal contact.  I would use caution when creating elixirs, however, but when in doubt you can place the crystals outside of and adjacent to the water you are charging. To keep your dog from digesting your crystals you could keep them in a special pouch or container when not in use that is out of sight and out of reach.

Crystal Blessings~

I must share the standard disclaimer that I am not a doctor and cannot give out medical advice. Crystals for healing should be used as a complement to other therapies and not as a replacement for regular medical care.  The information offered here is based on a combination of my own personal experiences and that of others on using crystals for healing.  My hope is that you will let your own intuition guide your path in working with crystals as well.
