If I am wanting to communicate with my ancestors with my Amethyst skull - how would I do that? Just put the intention and ask for them to speak to me in my dreams? I'm not sure. Thank you!

Spiritual communication comes in different forms for different people and you may have to experiment to find what works best for you. As you mentioned, you can set your intention and ask for dream communication (keep a pen and paper nearby for when you wake up), you can also ask for communication through meditation, automatic writing, or signs and symbols (such as feathers or coins).
