I received a Blue Kyanite and its very pretty, but it smells bad, like motor oil. Can you suggest something to remove the smell? I have scrubbed and no change. Advice? thanks so much.

Hi B:

Thanks so much for your question about how to clean Kyanite. I have found that when a crystal has a smell to it that two of the most effective tools are dirt and essential oils. First try burying the Kyanite in some dirt and leave it in there for at least 24 hours. Try to place it under Moon light (it doesn't matter if you can't see the Moon - it is there and if you place the dirt in a window it will get the energy) and ask that any physical energies that are attached to the crystal be released.

After you take it out see how the smell is. If it is still there then try using an essential oil - just a drop - and make it something that you enjoy. Please be cautious because it is possible that the oil might discolor your crystal so this should be a last resort if the smell is really bothering you. I personally like mint or tea tree oil but they might be too powerful for the Kyanite.

Thank you again for reaching out to us and for your support of Healing Crystals.com. I hope that I have been able to answer your question and that you will feel free to let us know if you need any further information.

Wishing you lots of Love and Light!

Crystal Blessings!
