This article's topic is GUILT. I really wanted to address this subject because it affects your health, your happiness and takes you away from your ideal life. In order to live authentically you cannot let guilt run your life. This is especially important for women and now that the holidays are here the guilt is being spread on so thick you can't breathe. Do you realize women have been raised to feel guilty? We were raised to believe that we are responsible for the happiness of everyone around us. When in actuality the only person who can make someone happy is themself. This means that your spouse, boyfriend, partner, boss, mother, father and yes, even your children are responsible for their own happiness.
Your children came into this world with their own personality, likes, dislikes, gifts, talents and traits. You have an obligation and hopefully also a desire to nurture them, take care of their health, education, and provide them with love. If these needs are provided for and they are not happy all of the time, that is not your responsibility and you do not need to take that on. It is normal for children as they grow and change to experience different moods as they find their way in this world. It is not a reflection on you. The same thing with your parents and siblings. They determine their own day to day choices and decisions which lead to their own personal happiness. You could not make them happy even if you wanted to. The best thing you can do for anyone else is to take care of your own happiness. Be the example.
You have to make yourself aware of all of the different sources of guilt coming at you. I see ridiculous articles in women's magazines that feed the guilt. Take a good look at the titles of some of the articles on your coffee table, in store lines or at the hairdresser. A men's magazine is not going to have pages of articles dedicated to "one hundred ways to make your partner happy". They don't have the pressure to bake the "perfect" turkey or the "perfect" cake for the holidays. Give yourself the most loving gift of all this Holiday season. Let go of the guilt. No one really cares if you bought your turkey already prepared from your local supermarket or restaurant. If you enjoy doing it...fine, but if not, you are not doing yourself or anyone else any good by taking on more than you can handle and getting stressed out.
In addition to making yourself aware of sources of guilt and letting go of the need to feel responsible for everyone else, there is another way that you can help balance and protect yourself from the guilt cycle. If you are familiar with crystals at all then you know the power that they have. This is not "new-age" nonsense, it's scientific knowledge that crystals have different properties, energy and that the color also has healing affects on the body. Look at how far we have come in using different color lights in medical treatments and we even use light to sterilize equipment. Modern medicine is slowly moving toward more holistic and energetic methods of healing. You don't have to wait for Dr. Oz to say it's ok before you can start using crystals to enhance your health and your life.
There are three different crystals which are particularly beneficial in helping you deal with guilt. The first and most common one is Rose Quartz, it helps us to love ourself as we are. Much of the guilt we experience is because we believe we are not enough unless we are making everyone around us happy. Pink Calcite extends self love to others and releases us from the guilt trap. Clear Quartz helps us to reclaim our full self, it is like a "mirror" and allows us to acknowledge ourselves as full human beings. This is important because guilt doesn't allow us to see ourselves as a full and whole person. We can get so caught up in the guilt cycle that we feel awful and are not sure why. The crystals will help to ease that feeling and bring you back into balance.
