Question:

"I recently purchased several crystals for myself and for a friend for wealth. I know the citrine does not need cleansing but I don't know how to cleanse the others: Green Tourmaline; Pyrite Cube; and Green Aventurine.

Also can you tell me which crystal is the best for depression? My friend has really been down for quite a long time. I bought the above crystals to hopefully bring us some money which she really really needs. I don't think she believes in the power of the crystals but I wanted to try something that would help her. Will her non believing counter the good from the crystals?"

Answer:

Dear Judy~

Thank you for sending in your questions. Let's look at your first question regarding cleansing your stones. If you are ever unsure of how a particular stone should be cleansed, then you should use sage. You can do this by holding the crystal over a smoldering piece sage, while you visualize any negative energies being lifted out of the stone by the smoke of the sage. Always keep a window open while doing this, as it allows these negative energies an exit out of your environment. For further information on cleansing, please see our article on that subject here:
How to Clean, Clear and Charge Crystals.

The most effective crystal I know of for depression is Lithium Quartz, and it is the one I most commonly suggest for those suffering from this all too common afliction. It is named for it's content of lithium, which is commonly used in certain antidepressants. Lithium Quartz can ease negative emotions, and provide relief from stress and tension. Lithium Quartz can bring higher vibrational energies into the Heart Chakra via the Third-Eye Chakra, and can offer calming vibrations which help with insomnia. While we don't have any in stock at this current time, you can take a look at Lepidolite which is known to be just as effective.

Like Lithium Quartz, Lepidolite is also known to help alleviate depression, due to its lithium content. Lepidolite is great at reducing stress and depression that is associated with transition. Lepidolite works with the Heart and Crown Chakras, but has some effects on the Third-Eye as well.

In almost every situation, I like to suggest Clear Quartz for any type of healing, including emotional healing. Clear Quartz is known as the Master Healer of the mineral kingdom, and aura photography has shown that simply holding a Quartz Crystal can increase the size and strength of the aura. Clear Quartz is known to be easily programmed, as it tends to absorb vibrations very easily. This property also means that Quartz Crystal should be cleansed on a regular basis, and more frequently during times of frequent use. Clear Quartz is helpful for pain relief, especially for headaches, and is wonderful for body layouts, as it clears and activates the chakras. Clear Quartz is the most common stone used in crystal grids. To see our Clear Quartz Crystals, check out the following page: Clear Quartz.

Citrine is a popular crystal for attracting positive vibrations into one's energy field. A member of the Quartz family, Citrine encourages joy, optimism, and hope even in the darkest of circumstances. Known as a stone of prosperity, Citrine can be placed in the far left corner of one's home to attract wealth, and is often used in prosperity rituals with candles and other crystals such as Tiger Eye. Citrine works mostly with the Solar-Plexus and Sacral Chakras to pull in brighter vibrations through an activated Third-Eye Chakra. If you would like to take a look at our offering of Citrine, check out the following page: Citrine.

Working primarily with the Heart and Higher-Heart Chakras, Rose Quartz is quite wonderful at easing enduring emotional pain. Rose Quartz is known as the stone of love, and as such, it can infuse the chakras with the vibration of love and compassion. Sleeping with Rose Quartz in one's hand can impart a sense of comfort by helping the heart to remember the truth of Universal Love. We have a very nice selection of Rose Quartz items here: Rose Quartz.

Other stones that can help relieve some types of depression are as follows:

Some crystals, like Clear Quartz mentioned above, can be programmed to perform certain functions such as healing. We have an article on programming stones here: How to Programme your Crystals.

I hope these suggestions offer some relief for your friend. While there is certainly some degree of mind over matter involved in the use of crystals for various types of healing, this is not absolute. However, it would be helpful if she could at least accept the possibility that crystals contain helpful energies. It might help if you explain the property of piezoelectricity held by certain crystals to your friend. Piezoelectricity is the ability of crystals to generate an electrical charge when mechanical pressure is applied to the stone. Crystals such as Quartz and Tourmaline carry this property and this makes them in demand for uses in computers, radios, and watches, among other things.

If you explain to your friend about the belief held by energy-healers, that all illness begins as an energetic imbalance in the body before they manifest as a physical or mental ailment, it might help her to think more openly about the possibilities. I used to be a sceptic myself, that is, until I had my first healing experience with a Clear Quartz Crystal. Please let her know that she is welcome to send in any questions she might have about crystals.

Good luck!
Peace & Blessings!
