today. If you would like to learn more about crystals and healing with crystals, we
suggest the following books as a good place to start.
Crystal Guides and Reference Books: Start with these books if you are
beginning your study of crystals, and then continue to use them as trusty tools as you
deepen your knowledge and practice of crystals and crystal healing.
The Crystal Bible, by Judy Hall
This book has wonderful photos, an easy to use format, and a comprehensive listing of
stones. The Crystal Bible is a great place to start if you want to
identify a particular stone and get an overview of its metaphysical properties.
Love is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals, by Melody
One of the most popular crystal books in the metaphysical community, Love is in the
Earth is often referred to simply as Melodys book. Melody was
one of the first to write extensively about crystals and their specific metaphysical
properties and uses, and this book gives lengthy insights into a comprehensive list of
stones. Please note that there are no photographs in this book.

The companion book to Love is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals, Love

discusses. This is simply a book of photographs, accompanied by a brief listing of
the stones chemical composition, color, hardness, and locality.
The Book of Stones: Who They Are and What They Teach, by Robert Simmons
and Naisha Ahsian (with contributions by Hazel Raven)
Published in 2005, The Book of Stones includes some newer finds in the growing
metaphysical crystal world that were not around when some of the other books were
published. This book also has an impressive comprehensive guide of stones and their
metaphysical properties, and beautiful photographs.
The Illustrated Directory of Healing Crystals: A Comprehensive Guide to 150
Crystals and Gemstones, by Cassandra Eason
Organized by stone color, The Illustrated Directory of Healing Crystals offers
physical properties, symbolic associations, mythology, and contemporary healing uses for
150 of the most commonly used healing crystals.
Healing Crystals and Gemstones: From Amethyst to Zircon, by Dr. Flora
Peschek-Bohmer and Gisela Schreiber
An overview of what the authors consider to be the most important crystals and
gemstones, Healing Crystals and Gemstones offers a organized, easy-to-look-up
guide to stone properties, including healing properties, chakra associations, astrological
information, and chemical compositions.
The Illustrated Guide to Crystals, by Judy Hall
While it contains only the more commonly used stones, The Illustrated Guide to Crystals
offers a nice overview of the different ways crystals can be used. This bright,
colorful book contains topics such as crystals and love, crystal astrology, and crystal
divination.
Healing With Gemstones and Crystals, by Diane Stein
Fans of Diane Stein will enjoy Healing With Gemstones and Crystals. For each
stone, Stein lists color therapy and chakra information, as well as bullet points on
general metaphysical properties.

above to be like crystal encyclopedias, while the ones below are more like how
to manuals.
Heal Yourself with Crystals: Crystal Medicine for Body, Emotions, and Spirit,
by Hazel Raven
Heal Yourself with Crystals is a beautifully laid out, easy-to-use guide. In
it, Hazel Raven offers crystal recommendations divided into three areas of healing:
body, emotion, and spirit, and covers ailments ranging from indigestion to
impatience. Each topic contains background knowledge, ancient wisdom, stone
recommendations (including an explanation of why this stone helps that issue), and useful
healing techniques.
Illustrated Elements of Crystal Healing, by Simon Lilly
Illustrated Elements of Crystal Healing provides an overview and explains the basic
procedures of crystal healing. This book offers illustrated crystal grid layouts and
easy-to-follow techniques. Various assessment tools are discussed as well, such as
pendulum and kinesiology muscle testing procedures, and there are brief discussions of
related topics such as crystals in the home and crystal divination. This book is
broader and less deep than some of the others, but it is a great place to start.

crystal geometrical grid layouts. In Healing with Gemstones, the authors give
physical and spiritual aspects for individual stones, as well as readings from the deva
within each stone and useful affirmations. This book also contains extensive
grid layouts.
Crystal Enlightenment: The Transforming Properties of Crystals and Healing Stones,
Volume One, by Katrina Raphaell, and
Crystal Healing: The Therapeutic Application of Crystals and Stones, by
Katrina Raphaell
While the list of stones discussed in these books is narrower than in the comprehensive
guides, Katrina Raphaell dives deeply into the uses and properties of the stones she does
discuss. These advanced guides are written for those interested in the laying-on-of
stones, and give useful diagrams and practices that can be used. Crystal
Enlightenment contains some history on crystal healing, and healing techniques
organized by specific stones. Crystal Healing presents healing techniques
organized by method, and also contains an informative section on Master Crystals.
Crystal Journey: Travel Guide for the New Shaman, by JaneAnn Dow
A thirty year veteran of crystal healing, JaneAnn Dow offers her classic crystal healing
book, Crystal Journey, for sale as a download from her website.

book is for you.
Crystal Prescriptions: The A Z Guide to Over 1,200 Symptoms and
Their Healing Crystals, by Judy Hall
In Crystal Prescriptions, Judy Hall makes it easy to match a physical, emotional,
mental or spiritual issue with the stones that can help heal it. While this handy,
pocket-sized book lists stone recommendations for a long list of specific symptoms, it
does not go into an explanation of why specific stones help with specific ailments.
New Cosmic Crystals: The Ultimate Course in Crystal Consciousness, by R.A.
Bonewitz (with contributions by Lilian Verner-Bonds)
New Cosmic Crystals gives a fascinating explanation of how crystals are formed, and
explains why the sacred geometry formation of crystals makes them so perfect for energy
work. There is also a discussion of crystals and colors, and a section including
sample crystal exercises.
Gemstone Energy Medicine: Healing Body, Mind and Spirit, by Michael Katz
Michael Katz brings this informative volume on Gem Therapy as a component of energy
medicine. Gemstone Energy Medicine advocates the use of therapeutic gemstone
necklaces, and discusses the specific healing benefits of 30 gemstones.
