Amethyst Clusters - Dark Purple Druze Crystals - These "Natural Amethyst Druze Cluster" Specimens are irregular-shaped pieces of the Amethyst Druze found inside geodes. Originating mostly from Uruguay (and sometimes Brazil), these Deep Purple Amethyst Druze Clusters were chosen for their dark purple color, and sit relatively flat, and thus make great Amethyst specimens.

The inclusion of Manganese produces Amethyst's purple color, the content of which determines the relative darkness of the purple (more Manganese a deeper purple, less Manganese a lighter, lilac color). Amethyst usually grows in geodes, which are hollow rocks with crystal-filled interiors. The surface of the interior is called Druze, which is a term used to describe a natural layer of crystals formed on the crust of a mineral, like, for example, the inside of an Amethyst geode. From the outside, Amethyst geodes often look like ordinary rocks, but inside they contain a wonderland of crystals.
